1/91
good evening and welcome to take two of the news but telethon here on Wednesday evening I'm Peter B. Collins in San Francisco and we're working through some technical issues we were talking for the last half hour but you weren't able to see us because of a linking problem with you too and spirit all just let you know that I don't see the street name on my2/91
you tube screen over here yet up so he is our technical director and he's holed up in a hotel room in Merced California trying to make the broadband work under difficult circumstances so I keep us posted on that Spiro Sibel Edmonds is with me and she of course is the founder of boiling frog post on Tom and the founder of the new new spot platform that's3/91
why we're here this evening to tell you about news but and to invite you to help fund this one hundred percent publicly funded and independent news outlet that we plan to launch in September of this year all it takes is the funding and that's what we're here to ask your help with the this evening so we'd like you to logon to news but dot com that4/91
will link you up to our Kickstarter page Kickstarter is where we are hosting our crowdfunding campaign we now have nine hundred and two contributors are and the amount that we've raised so far is eighty eight thousand two hundred dollars now that is a healthy start but we've got a long way to go to our goal of nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars so I felt we5/91
had linked up with professor Mickie Huff from project censored and he sends his apologies because you have the allotted time for us to talk and at this point you have to go teach a class and so you have agreed to come back with us on a future telethon for news but but he'd made the case that a project censored contends with many of the issues that6/91
we have %HESITATION in our efforts with boiling frogs post and with the the news but concept that we hope to bring to life later this year and that is when you report on controversial issues like nine eleven like stolen elections like all other issues that are sometimes called conspiracy theories but we prefer to call them state crimes against democracy well we see that funding dries up7/91
if you're an advertiser supported platform the advertisers will go away and if you've been relying on foundation grants well they get real skittish when controversy strikes so stop all this is why you are so Adam I mean you are at that's fair to say you're adamant that this is going to be one hundred percent funded by our viewers listeners and readers absolutely and we are not8/91
going to give in even half a percent even one percent because we have seen all these other models at work of you have seen the foundation models at work and I'm and for some reason people distinguish between foundations and mega corporations they are the same thing when you have Rockefellers and so rose and %HESITATION sugar Daddies like you're only you are and Jeff bass those and9/91
hope brothers when they are dishing out who do you think these people are bird you think they got there billions of dollars where do you think they've got those hundred millions of dollars that they are pouring into the so called alternative data media outlets well it is the same there there is no difference and and %HESITATION people did not realize they say well I get it10/91
for free and he always tried to make them understand here is no such thing as a free lunch he doesn't express okay it doesn't exist I eat it is some kind of an illusion or maybe is the denial for people's park nursing find out what happened some advertisement here and there but it's not only about advertised there is so much more it is the systematic brainwashing11/91
it is the psychological warfare it is the propaganda ivory you just repeat the same lie you know over and over again it becomes that act a new reality well that's exactly what they're doing and I don't care what people say I don't care what they think in terms of being in New York none of us are immune even if we don't realize subconsciously the propaganda the12/91
brainwashing the psychological warfare is not working goes into great course approaches anda so that's why I say no way it's going to be one hundred percent people find it is going to be non partisan and you're going to see issues that people in the right consider important and then you see you guys the issue of people on the lack of people in this Saturday but it13/91
consider important and there will be anybody was gonna come to news but well you know in a few seconds of looking at what we cover how we cover news analysis various programs that you're going to broadcast you're going to see god it's every day because that's the real journalists any you can't say if this particular cover up involves some kind of an issue that is to14/91
the right of the spectrum I'm not going to touch it or vice versa all of this is the last this is the liberal issue there or what passed how they're operating you know New York times and because you know what your other laugh cited mainstream media okay they basically say this is not democratic Amby are going to cover what they want us to cover or what15/91
you believe they should based on where they are on the spectrum same thing with Washington times and all the soap all right publications you know when I touch any issues no matter how significant no matter how applicables everyone that is they consider you know to be the last issue I am each week it sure does what we have is you have uninformed people you have people16/91
who are being filled every single day pop with propaganda and and and they go and they are doing the same thing you know what Einstein said insanity he said is right even the same thing all over over and over and over and over eighty with the same result past insanity so pull up until this point they have been saying altogether let's go to the alternative media17/91
funded by the sugar Daddies will take it maybe they gonna be different the ones who have been you know they've been going and keep going to the mainstream media and then they complain they say why we see no change why things are getting worse why we are where we are well it's because we are repeating the same thing as Einstein's that over and over and over18/91
and over will be are defined and you are saying this is the model each is not out there you can find any model I haven't seen it have you Peter have resources how full time investigative journalist season have everything no advertisement no medical rations and no sugar Daddies from the foundation we don't want to even all the government anything okay because if you're a journalist thing19/91
entity less the your organization and your five oh one C. three government says fine you don't pay tax because your five was once seat three okay be exact you what did you mean is hundreds of pages of forms eater and they say you have to buy so this is what we mean by there's no free lunch I believe the government is not going to give us20/91
free let you now you Peter and Spiro well yes Spiro jump in here because of that you're going to be working with new spot in this investigative reporter you've done a lot of %HESITATION field reporting for your own YouTube channel and give us your thoughts about how the work you do contrast with the corporate media as product here in the United States well if we rely21/91
upon the corporate media I mean that's as pretty much a joke at this point I think that everyone out there can and does realize that the mainstream media is not to be trusted that they have an agenda that they're bought off and it's funny though you still see people referring back to them as a credible source even though time and time again we've seen them discredit22/91
themselves caught lying in it's it's a it's like a Hollywood production basically you know they have their their very effective model for propaganda their their high dollar you know million dollar sets studios everything like that and at least that it's it's scripted a lot of the news is completely scripted and they not only our feet spoon feeding you the news about the way that they want23/91
you to perceive it I would also telling you what to buy workshop and everything like that and to me you can't rely on that corporate mentality that fascist mentality we see that the corporations governments working hand in hand and so the best best way to get the source the information is directly directly from the source on the scene of that's that's some of their what I'm24/91
looking to contribute to news but is to be able to go anywhere and everywhere I can if if sometime when a band is taking place cover that event there directly %HESITATION use our resources to get get the interviews on the ground up get that footage and I just approach it from a totally independent way to where what the people are wanting to know the people are25/91
not wanting to know what the Kardashians are up too early so that the people I hang out with bhakta it's it's an exciting project that I'm I'm very much looking forward to be a part of and I'm hoping that we reach our goal to make this happen working with guys it with our team is just incredible it really is and it's always enjoyable like listen to26/91
pep a in Corbett earlier talking that a twenty minute piece that they did excellent excellent piece well the Spiro since you mention that lets cue that up and %HESITATION get written to share that with our viewers right now I wanna know that we are have increased start number of contributors by five since we started this a telethon we're now at nine hundred and five contributors and27/91
I want to thank everyone who has recently %HESITATION donated including federal Rico who ARE has up put in five hundred dollars and somebody named Wayne about an hour ago donated two thousand five hundred dollars that may be the largest contribution that we've seen to date so we're very encouraged by this we also want to encourage small contributions because we realize that not everybody I can just28/91
whip out their checkbook or their credit card and donate without thinking about the amount what is important for us is the number of donors because that is so neat a validation of our concept each one of you who registers at Kickstarter and puts in a dollar or five dollars you are sending a message that even though you're not a wealthy individual who has disposable cash and29/91
that you're voting for news but so I'd like to encourage you even if it's a small amount you come over to our Kickstarter page right now and %HESITATION donate as generously as you can we appreciate each contribution and as I said it sends an important message of validation about the need for new spud and your personal support for it so Spiro you mentioned that %HESITATION yesterday30/91
I think it was chance Corbett and peppy Escobar released %HESITATION an eighteen minute video conversation it was mostly about Syria and peppy Escobar is somebody that everyone of us on the news but team has incredible respect for I've been talking to pep day for more than six years and I in two thousand twelve you happen to be in the United States and he came to my31/91
house and we drank wine together while we watched one of the debates between Obama and %HESITATION Mitt Romney and I've gotten to know him as a remarkable guy who is from Brazil but he spent a lot of time in the United States he's got our number he understood ends American culture is a big fan of our mood music and movies it is extremely well read and32/91
he also offers important perspectives from offshore critical commentary about the United States and some of are incredibly empty policies particularly those that relate to the war in Syria right now and at the conclusion of this interview James Corbett asked happily for a quick recap and that's what we're gonna play for me right now because in just two minutes peppy gives you an incredible briefing on the33/91
complex mess in Syria let's take a look business model is there but it depends on people I know it's horrible to hate people for my I know I don't like that but it's still only wait if you need independent new most welcome mat there is no business model for anybody because this mortal coil having a guy with the job logging are in our city at night34/91
that you find in the morning and try to make ends meet during the day it's not professional Charles these guys are great what we need although it we need to integrate these guys so a bigger news organization financed by you know the average citizen everywhere in North America across Europe across the region so that's the basic idea of wheels but and that's why I'm heavily implicated35/91
are and let's hope it works like yours like you said before I think was very ambitious Kickstarter route and we still what we are still less than half percent or go weeks just two days to go so the next fifty days you know it's gonna be it's much more important and what's happening in Syria let's make news but work with their you know we can help36/91
actually change the world and right now we have eight hundred thirty one backers record this conversation I know there's going to be at least ten thousand people watching this on YouTube another ten thousand downloading the audio from my site I'm sure we can get more than eight hundred thirty one people onboard with this so again if you do have the funds to contribute please do talk37/91
it is not the ideal school quest you gonna have you're going to have to shoot it make it forty seven called corporate park you see report it if you show up then box you know a few months ago to have the best independent all I need yeah anywhere are you looking forward to it and I'm sure we'll have plenty more conversations like this one trying to38/91
make a sense of this room convoluted mess that is being created there in Syria and elsewhere around the globe Pepe Escobar thank you for your time thank you so much James and keep it up thanks I have spent here Escobar with James Corbett and you can find a link to that full video I believe it's up on the news but Paige is that right Sibel what39/91
was the question Peter you just need James Corbett and Peppiatt Escobar interview currently on the news but page now that is gone corvettes page because it is being dumped or Corbett report yours and then we'll be we will be adding that in the next two three days so we're back into thinking back that okay great and with us epay really offered a stunning analysis of this40/91
reported ceasefire there is different from the cessation of violence that failed a week ago and this alleged ceasefire courses selective it doesn't apply to all of the fighting groups on the ground including those that are supported by the United States and by Saudi Arabia and so this is an exercise in public relations but if you read The New York Times or you wait for a television41/91
network to actually covered the war in Syria you're not only gonna wait a long time for the TV coverage but the New York times it's going to give you essentially the state department lie in the White House line %HESITATION but no critical commentary or independent analysis of the kind that you get from a very independent globetrotter like Pepe Escobar and so this is really critical because42/91
it in the last few years we've seen a kind of stands down our coverage of America's foreign policy blunders and so the Obama administration takes no political heat really from the left or right %HESITATION the right snipes that Obama and says he ought to be killing more people in in Syria but they don't have any any real ideas or thoughtful strategies and what you wind up43/91
with is just people ignoring and we're hoping that it will go away kind of you know latching on to dreams of a of a ceasefire when it's very clear that the conditions on the ground won't permit it and some belt you provided some of the very important early coverage on America's covert involvement all right in the Syrian civil war and what ultimately led to the rise44/91
of dash or what we now call the Islamic state and yet you were original reporting has not really been mirrored in the mainstream media in this country no you're right Peter impact be broke that that story at the end of two thousand %HESITATION eleven was around October November based cars our sources here in the United States %HESITATION military sources but also sources in Turkey and though45/91
and some of these people are high level military people yeah they had approached before he came to me act willing frocks close they had approached the New York times and I believe Washington post it documented report that since may June two thousand eleven of within U. S. air base in Turkey asking jelly air base is close to Syrian Turkish border in the south a neighbor training46/91
they were bringing in of the house Syrian dissenters and our nearest actions they were training them militaristic we and then arming them and that they were funneling them back within you know in patches small batches back into through the poorest quarters there in Syria and Turkey into Syria so we reported on that I wrote several articles %HESITATION it including some of the city and I would47/91
at least watch sources name and there was not from the mainstream media and this is during the time when nobody had heard of Syria Syria was not in the headline he had he would just finish that Libya Libya was finished a few months before and all these operations and activities began that's why I called it ISIS are US because this people that right now you're fighting48/91
we're the ones that the United States and this is NATO and the CIA actions they brought into Cherokee in the US air base they train badly arm gun they sat back and they are directing and to say that you are having this I am war with this entity called ISIS we have been basically are you having opposing the entire notion that they have been selling the49/91
public and it's no different Peter now what they did with al Qaeda you know I mean that's exactly what we did with al Qaeda any sure it started in nineteen eighties with the Afghan us Soviet war but beware using them to use them al Qaeda factions you mean the Balkan wars in nineteen ninety six nineteen ninety seven we get together with our proxy tricky you were50/91
taking all these not only check chance but outrider actions from Saudi Arabia from Pakistan each of Turkey then from Turkey into the Balkans and and and and we were operating there in the Balkans again beating the United States with the same action I did learn some terrible list you know me you have done that if che LA maybe temporarily will take them off the terrorist it's51/91
state department's tender list and then later we can put them back in there so we have people going in there a but as as you said Peter nobody covered it it was there again and the article that is that the series that I wrote were wrecked by hands of thousands of people was all over the internet it was picked up by major media outlets outside the52/91
United States but does not repeat here but I'm not talking about the mainstream media only there was not a peep from either the left or the right so called alternatives nothing whatsoever will it end we we see this on a too much of a regular basis now where the corporate media takes its cues from the administration and from the Pentagon and they're mostly focused on preserving53/91
their access to a big story in the future and we've seen are exposed you know in one little window or another the way the CIA place the media and their PR experts %HESITATION work with a high profile reporters and there's a give and take then you know we're going to give you an exclusive on of the latest leak that we officially what to put into the54/91
system in exchange for you not reporting about this or that or the other thing and it's very effective and some of the outlets that we use to rely on %HESITATION twenty years ago we thought that stick the minutes was the hard hitting investigative news magazine that you know would never %HESITATION yeah you know to further to any up power center that they were supreme and that55/91
they would report to treat well starting with the %HESITATION exposure of the way they spiked the reports on us the addictive nature of tobacco in the way the tobacco companies were actually adding nicotine sue hawk smokers more deeply up up through the other episodes of of the of nine eleven of the pre war shenanigans with Iraq and then some bell you had your own experience with56/91
six the minutes where you know they strong you along and finally ran a story that represented what about forty maybe fifty percent or less of what you told them I would say less than that much less than that it started I don't wanna give in any interviews to anyone but they they were actually true oneself persuasion process trying to convince me through my attorney then the57/91
pressure they promised me everything Isobel Mike he's had just begun and it hasn't even been completed and through the court system is a neat promise me we'll be covering guest and he will come back and we'll have updates you know they give you the moon before you start have poured out fifteen minute segments they had over one and a half hour of footage and I am
