good afternoon everyone before I drag you along on this roller coaster that will be my speech I'd like to make one thing clear from the start it's a confession and I don't freak out it's just I have plagiarized and for those of you who are not familiar with the term that means that I have to get credit for something that is not entirely my own work
I know of scandalous but bear with me and this will make more sense once I explain in a bit while writing down my thoughts on how to formulate this presentation and met my thought process clear to everyone I realize that the only way to achieve that is by making bully out known now that might be an issue considering got headaches guidelines prefer the structure of one
speech to be invisible to the audience but I feel like we're not strangers here and I can trust you with this piece of information so the way my speech is organized is nothing short of a recurring sequence %HESITATION is nothing short of a recurring sequence that is often seen and novels so the book starts with an action packed seem about streets from all standard plot triangle
you've ever learned in English class where an introduction or exposition is followed by conflict arising action your climax falling action and finally your exposition this method of placing the climax of the beginning of the story is an effective way of capturing the reader's attention or the audiences in this case about you and Armonk it's become quite popular and widely used in books ranging from above average
to twilight %HESITATION the example I used my not be necessarily demonstrating %HESITATION what I you like to focus on because my focus for today it was mostly the repetition of techniques on general ideas that echo around the world of creativity and this is an example of not this lack of inspiration per rather an effective technique or tactic that is used to give up a relative success
to any given work armed so are so concentrating on the prospect of no imagination or inspiration I think we can all agree that we've experienced as a one point or another my personal experience varies with each day but one that is directly linked to today's presentation is nothing none other than the presentation itself you see coming up with a topic for my speech was not an
easy task because like many of you in this room are watching me from a camera somewhere I I'm quite indecisive when it comes to making choices on what to develop in order to create something new because what if I make the wrong decision what if by picking one path I miss out on something better I don't I don't trust myself with many things of the same
nature and that out myself out which all of these factors are contributing to not only my decision making by my thinking in general which then coming up with a topic that I could potentially discussed turns into a series of ideas and let downs because see what I think of is not interesting enough for cannot be developed into a well rounded speech it's just a lot of
thinking which leads to over thinking which leads to nowhere armor and so for her arm as a focusing on that what I said before that inspiration is lacking in today's creative world %HESITATION I'd like to bring something forward and as observant as one can be I think we can all see it and what I noticed is that as far as the production of original content is
concerned is that it doesn't exist of anything other than pre existing ideas books are published that all follow familiar structure films are rarely producing anything that the audience cannot expect and that might not be that bad considering that some people can see you twist coming and that makes them feel good about themselves I mean after all you feel good knowing that he called something that was
about to happen but not so good when you see that you're not the only one this I admit the satisfying feeling is great but only to an extent and only for so long when that keeps repeating itself over and over things start to get boring arguably being bored is not a bad thing because our brains should I be stimulated every moment of the day but also
talk for another time now our own this lack of creativity will perhaps become more obvious to you after a few examples for many years now storytelling medium such as books and movies have been productions of a previous original and these examples are by no means bad or lacking any appeal because to be honest there all my personal to read list and come on there the stories
that we all grew up with Peter Pan Alice in Wonderland the wizard of oz Rumpelstiltskin beauty and the beast and they're all being told in a different way in these narratives and that makes them interesting and exciting to read the most prominent case however that I would like to discuss of other idea that is dragged along is thought of popular novel in classic film psycho being
released one year after the book Alfred Hitchcock's dubbed masterpiece is hardly is highly praised and recognizable to Wall the nineteen ninety eight film remake not so much when you compare the two without any contacts you can see that the lack of use of general emotion in V. if the main character spaces suddenly comical it's I mean it's funny what you seem to have any real emotions
Usk opposed to advance the older version and so it's not hard to see why this book this %HESITATION film Barton got so many bad reviews and low ratings and be up the award winning actors the plate and I couldn't do much to help its reputation arming the heartburn of course there are other versions of these media that are better than their previous answers just like a
collection of society through I keep getting better and better as the years go by %HESITATION but also greater instances such as Jane Austen's pride and prejudice one of her most popular works and turned into an agreeable movie adaptation vat house powerful scores in which the soundtrack is complementary to the beautiful sightings and compelling performances it's this two thousand and five major picture our film earned a
lot of awards and is way better than the nineteen ninety five to being in the series sorry Colin Firth Bowden so although that's one reason that got large companies like apple and Samsung keep releasing new versions of their devices yes but undoubtedly earn some more money but it does so through the improvements on their products Arden although the more recent can be better there are still
developing upon an older type a prototype which in the long run is the purest form of the initial idea that was used to create more volumes well in many ways that is not bad because it can be improved on or even in house with something that makes you unique from its ancestor just like the aforementioned bad results of psycho trying to create a replica there are
more modern I say be yes that can bring something appealing to a new generation of people here is the book published in two thousand and nine called pride and prejudice and zombies it doesn't cut from the original system does give credit to Jane Austen as well as the author self Graham Smith we took her creation and upon developing it he made it his own in a
way and now you might ask how does any lack of creativity really to this executive these examples and the way I see it is when a person has creativity as part of their job description and choose those too instead of creating something new van make a duplicate of something previously established their withholding from inventing new and creating new things and making new discoveries armed now arm
well there are other of books or creations died are being %HESITATION told by in a new way about applies to today's standards which is interesting to see despite the continuous a %HESITATION release of things that have been pre existed and one example is that of politically correct bedtime stories by James Finn garner who makes people see classic stories which found their way into general social consciousness
in a different and admittedly new light now it all this is great but in a working environment where plagiarism is including school in which plagiarism have serious consequences people will think twice before developing upon the classics and this is where my personal self doubt comes into play I'm too afraid that by creating something I am unintentionally copying someone else's work let me tell you that is
extremely frowned upon whether you intended or not so to assure all my past present and future teachers might I promised that my previous statement about plagiarizing worse just for the sake of making a point and I will always cite my sources just like we have students have been conditioned to do since middle school but also take a look at this were good ideas come from is
a Ted talk by Steven Johnson and man with enough qualifications to silence me which they almost did because I stumbled upon this while I was researching my own topic for Ted and perfectly applicable to save by my speech is similar to heads and when I saw this my first reaction or thought was an Arabic expression but I so gracefully adopted from my friends hollows what am
I doing taking up on these man's words well nevertheless after if you look when threats and peer pressure I decided to ignore my doubt and take the risk and here I am presenting an idea previously introduced in the in my own albeit cynical yet original way so the point still stands while laziness will and should not be rewarded efforts should and are for example people practiced
by mimicking the experts on learning from them while when making IT identical copy of someone else's work and claim it as your own will because we're serious penalties when you simply take the elements that appeal to you and build on them then you can create something completely art imagines just like famous director Quentin Tarantino steep so bluntly I steal from every movie ever made and I
know my mother is rolling her eyes somewhere in the audience because of the specifics of my our friends pick your mother but belches proves that he takes parts of film that apply to him and speak to him and either uses them to pay them a tribute or you simply uses them as inspiration in his own phones and that's the side of things with this most favored
because you expand on something old and put your own unique twist on it just like Smith did with pride and prejudice and Tarantino that with every movie ever made apparently %HESITATION so to leave you with this last quote by director Francis Ford Coppola who state says it all here an essential element of any art is risk if you don't take a risk then how are you
