n't Jacob or not are you guys excited see I knew tell you why you guys you forget everything you know right now so who first thing you guys you know so the boy you guys are all doing your homework okay you know it's something you have to and you're doing great all year our duty great grades you can fabulous prizes such as you know Benjamin then
all is great stuff I would tell you doing it all wrong that's right I didn't say that you're doing it all wrong in order to succeed you have to look at everything with your own unique perspective okay what is I mean that means that when you think you must think in your own creative way not accepting everything that's already out there by the way the people
enjoying in the background are my little brothers even Wesley one of them's account as the other ones meteorologist yeah so your perspective might be the only way you can see ardor history your music or whatever so what is the one with which I can see math so for example that's thirty two and the rotations represents calm addition subtraction division multiplication X. after so today I did
my name even coming on your side doesn't want mechanics okay so today we're gonna do areas where you show your equation split into a tiny part of her time in a panic components and we're gonna solve its board the boundary conditions of a lattice and apart on the box well who look so I have some lecture notes which I like you guys to pass out on
the split into two rows so if I can have some people come up and get these that way before you come up here and you know what you know about something very quickly okay and just sits there I think I didn't I did not come here to frighten you all with quantum mechanics not yet who could so let's think about something simpler how media here for
about circles okay good so why circles important there the shape of global nearly Seabiscuit where we also and most importantly there is shaping a turn on your Xbox three sixty so what we know from school about circles we don't hire squared we all around do we know anything else not really so let me know if I could even do circles it's called Johnson's here where really
appearance just you know a way mathematicians to think of stuff so what Johnson said was you take three circles you overlapping in a way such that their six blue lines where I collegial circles blue such they're they're six lines coming in one point the other three points early circle the same size interesting so they just prior squared this is something new so because Johnson then to
think oh it's got empires were new and that's it he created man and he did it in his own unique perspective way so now I know not all of you are necessarily mathematically gifted so you so let's move on to more interesting stuff by now you might have heard about Isaac Newton in call in your high school career you might have heard about it from you
know presumes or whatever he might have done so it's six sixty five I think it was at the university of Cambridge now for those who really know your history at that time came pretty close to the play so I think noon he didn't have a way to learn yet to stop learning and you for all you know hiding in a dormitory with this cat running from
play now while you're doing this he decided he had to stop learning but he didn't want to stop thinking okay so because of that he was thinking about this from astrophysics and specifically I think you want to calculate the motion of the moon around the earth saw I'd sort of green ramp that problem into the case of mercury on the sun so okay what he did
was in order to solve this problem created calculus new three why the universal law of gravitation the reflecting telescope project at work in optics and all this crazy stuff and not two years that he and stop learning so I guess it was really good for us because at that time new stop learning what we stop learning he started thinking he created science and okay abstinence is
great we do not appear if well okay he got it right in some top scholar you could have four point oh GPA he could have been on the dean's list you could have as professor sprout but he would create anything if you can stop worrying new needed to start thinking and they get things with his own unique perspective in order to you know creative spirit so
now any formal interviews myself because I did not do that beginning of the talk so about eleven years ago I was diagnosed with this thing called autism what that meant was I was focusing in things in such extreme detail that it seemed like a one thinking it all basically I feel like I look here this reflection about life there's light appear but others might outsiders like
bacteria look over and over there okay okay so because of that you know people thought I would never learn because the images will but I was a steering in the open it look like I won doing anything at all so people told me I would never learn I never think I never talked and never tie my shoes which okay they might have a point I'm you
know I'm wearing sandals well you know but however at that age I went to the Barnes and noble and I got a text book and from the data that was in the textbook I deride cappers laws what was the most rewarding work making it all so basically from the other people's point of view I would just you know it was really looking too good I wasn't
finger painting you're doing stories timer any other stuff the two three four year old would do but you know what they have what they did was because that they took me to special ed which is fixed this battle and the fact they didn't educate me so during that time I was I had to stop learning because I I didn't have a way to learn you know
I wasn't special at so what they would do is you know okay so I wanna learn anything at all however at that age I started thinking about things and sort of the way of all these shadows and I think that's why I like astrophysics physics now today because I the stop learning I believe that's why I do what I do today okay select continue to grab
it okay so you know the very exciting topic for those of us who are in physics Salt Lake continue now what happened was a couple centuries later the physicist had enough experimental technology to test means orbit no it really did not think order mercury was an oval or it is I just like to say an ellipse however when we point our telescopes out we saw that
thing so okay below your site is you know it's extremely exaggerated but this was not looking good nude have failed one of the greatest business at the bottom line said they'll he pulled so we need someone else what they just don to forget everything they knew and you know recreate this that man's name was Albert Einstein Albert Einstein what he would die he was also you
know he was stopped in his tracks he was not doing very well he was he was Jewish and it was pre Nazi Germany so he was not able to get a position at the local university he had to work a patent office which okay that's not theoretical physics and report what I saw so yeah what happened was Einstein we had all this time to think all
sign here to stop learning but it all this time to think and so what he had done was he probably thought experiment and you like to think about all these different things so I think arm wasn't okay if it turns out my trampoline with a couple of friends which okay there actually are failure of my sense where in fact it physicist that's usually a couple more
than a half so I think it was probably on it you know I'm sorry our lifetimes Brian's trampling with one of his friends and you know they're probably in some kind of tennis or something so however you know their business is very good here by coordination so they brought in you know cats the tennis ball really rolling around and I say look at this he said
exited Mr gravity here and this is just my body so afterwards even if the motion which is going to end up like that crazy thing but the crazy thing is exactly another crazy thing so I got it solved the problem yeah I think it is all you need perspective in his own way it's not letting me start thinking any started creating so now let me get
back on the story and you know I wasn't really looking too good I did as kind of over there so about three years ago I okay there's a calculus class one this is a back up source I notice in the back in this I am going to learn how to trigonometry all this other middle school stop all the high school math and first year undergrad calculus
in two weeks so I was in the back of the class I was ten okay so also at that time through this I got accepted into university and yet again I was still ten so okay but I've got all in interests interview okay you know if we got into it university so I had to go it it's interview and because the parking I had all these
coins and you know I drop them over the guy's office maybe if the guy had no common sense and I pretty much held me back Christmas so I also want to stop learning at that time okay what you do I guess dot blurting it just you know start playing video games and stuff no I think thinking about six and I was thinking about the specific problem
after physics that I was really interested at that time I still kind of in now what I did was over the next two weeks I started thinking about the shapes I started thinking about this problem and after a while white solved it so I thought this problem after physics which basically it's similar to you know what's happening with on some new right now I can tell
you the exact problem due to the fact that I have not published yet we paper gets published you may figure out about it for those who who resigned of papers okay so I got all these problems it and you know I only had a five hundred sheep being a paper from office Max is I think of all these multinational things that build up really quickly so
that you know the white boards because I was out of paper but the white board and also feel the pre quickly you know so they moved on to my parents windows after that I decided getting chicks down while is when dachshunds often you know my poison will get erased by these horrible Windex creators but so because of that after about a month or so my parents
realized I was going out to the park no his drawing these weird shapes on the windows and basically outright is prove myself you know I did one at like noon I do not want to you know be proven on years down the road just proved so what I did was I was going on the windows I tried this for myself but to no avail after that
my parents you know they figured I should be on the park so I called some guy up at Princeton and they told the disproven I was doing unfortunately that wasn't the case he said I was on the right track so not going to the park okay so then because I am stop learning I started thinking I solved the problem after that I hope what's after that
I decided to create a calculus video for other people who wanted it still do calculus but the three others out there and so that we can also learn okay so I mean this calculus video people notice that I was twelve and I do in a calculus video after that the first people that notice was the Indianapolis star and they put me on the front page of
some newspaper and I could see from this picture I was eating a sandwich it was really Yummy so okay absolutely calculus Bailey went viral it at the time this photo it had some two million views so first the mall a calculus video going viral who'd ever thought so after that it got translated into whatever this language is there anybody who can tell me what language this
is I I can't read it okay studies okay good you know so then after that I had some guy from fox TV called me up and I was able to draw on his windows and use Linda the thing special about that experience that the windows were huge for every fourth above the ground and overlook the Chrysler building so well the fun experience so I start having
some really strange visitor shown to my house I think Morley safer show up and he's from CBS sixty minutes now for those of you who can really see this picture very well you may notice I'm wearing the same sandals so okay now what sort of recap what we don have isolating Johnson in Newton everyone I talk about are really geniuses is that really what does make
them so special is that really why they did all the work absolutely not name you know that's not why okay so what happened was all they did was they made a transition from learning just thinking to creating which by now the media's transfer wish trends waited into you know genius now I pressure they have relatively high IQ but as some of you may know there are
lots of people out there which I accuse you don't create the sort of thing now you know we just end up memorizing a couple hundred thousand hits the pa so first of all my question and that is why I memorize a different number like I mean I'm wearing fire right now so okay so in conclusion I'm supposed to be here at all you know I was
told I wouldn't talk there isn't there is watching this is freaking out right now okay I'm not supposed to be talking in knots with me learning but because I made the transition from learning to thinking to creating I am here today and I thought he was so some border a lot of people in New York okay now what I want you guys get out of his
speech okay what I want you guys to do is for the next twenty four hours I know you guys may have school or what not even though it's a Saturday for the next twenty for the next twenty four hours a don't learn anything you are not alone anything for the next twenty four hours however what I'd like you to do is I'd like you to go
into some feel I mean we all have some passion I don't know about I mean year for eleven minutes I I have no idea what you guys are interested in but you have some cash you know out there and we all know what it is salt I want you to think about that field instead of warning field and I said being a student of that field
