you're listening to the Colbert report what difference you score here quarter report dot com as I come to you it is the second of may two thousand seventeen and today we are talking to our old friends from news bud dot com of course you will be well familiar with the news buds founder Sibel Edmonds and he will hopefully also be familiar with Spiro Skaryszew I've had2/142
on the program several times and I believe is the general mandible town to know what all of news but dot com is that the right title their spirit %HESITATION I don't claim to be a know it all about anything James and well you could've fooled me alright so it is good to have both of you back here on the program %HESITATION and as I'm sure my3/142
audience has been paying attention news but dot com has been growing in leaps and bounds especially of late having more programs than most people can even keep track of little loan watch on a daily basis but it is coming out there is an incredible amount of info coming up from news but dot com right now so for the few people in the audience who may not4/142
have been track of this why don't we first to start talking about on what you have done accomplished in the past year or so on in building up news but dot com and then we'll talk a little bit about what you're going to be doing next with your next round of phase three funding for the news but project so let's start with what has been accomplished5/142
what is going on right now who have you got on your team and what are you doing well whom this is gonna be a long list to go over the doubts about being warned me about but as you know isolated as a whistleblower okay and for people who are not familiar with my background and in two thousand two three two thousand four five six I went6/142
through the whole battle the Supreme Court etcetera gag orders I believe and nice I have believed all along but I believe so even more today one of their biggest reason for dead successful this that's body government that butchered all the constitutional amendments etcetera beat gag orders is the secrets privilege cover up was because of the climate the media climate facilitating it granted it was right after7/142
nine eleven and we didn't have many of us alternative sources at the time and I blew a whistle there was no you to begin happy you took in two thousand to two thousand three Abby didn't have live streaming %HESITATION we didn't have Twitter so when I was in front of that Supreme Court and am reading what the government had issued the gag order yeah there were8/142
maybe two or three semi mainstream media outlets representatives but that was that so basically nobody heard about what the government was doing for people who blew the whistle reported wrongdoing and that things have been changing of course with the internet with these mediums starting such as you to up social media their goods and their bats and hopefully if we have time we'll get to that is9/142
not all good it's not all good fox lot of good stuff lottery rate opportunities to do good things but the opposite is a true as well I use a slotted the small side if you each was called boiling frocks posts and James that's when you and I began working together and %HESITATION and it was going to be a personal thing almost like a block side that10/142
I was going to maintain and then %HESITATION I thought that the introduction of the internet and all these mediums there would be there was you know they were going to be a lot of good outlets out there providing what mainstream media coverage but it was disheartening and it was a dis disillusionment for me because it didn't happen it didn't happen all I ended up spending so11/142
much time going through I don't know maybe four five dozens website in order to get understanding of what was happening on several areas geo politically police the state civil liberties Franz you know technology etcetera and that was when the ideal open use but was born I said well this is something that I really don't want to do it at this scale to be really effective to12/142
relief filled that void that that meant big void we need to have a grand start and start having more down one of two ingredients and if you look at our shows today and I'm right now talking about our multimedia shows we provide the audio the podcast the video this did that this summary the synopsis and all the sources that are producers use to deliver each one13/142
of these shows and we have shows on every single day basically to have one of the world's top experts for example in this case up professor Philip will watch a bitch beat and writting Russia you know all the things the shenanigans during the elections everybody scratching their heads saying well many of us don't have even the basic understanding of the history context why this is happening14/142
will be brought onboard %HESITATION as a partner as a team member professor Philip collection he has been producing for six seven months every Sunday one of the most amazing shows on Russia and telling people from the publications that this is not party because they have English language but in Russian language publications what the Russians are talking about what are they thinking how was the propaganda working15/142
in Russia because look it's not only here is everywhere Russia has a school prayer propaganda China has its own propaganda you know Venezuela's the state owned %HESITATION publications have their own propaganda but to have a better understanding we need to have that perspective we need to put them side by side rather then getting exposed only to one sided propaganda I am he's a professor you lectures16/142
in the university of San Francisco he speaks four languages including Russian he has led and thought in Russia so you're looking at someone was not theoretically export but also will pledge life experience political experience arm of expert on the topic same thing with China and North Korea India Pakistan be brought on board Peter Lee who is who's been practicing journalism as an expert on this region17/142
he lived in Russia Russia China I believe China for over ten years he speak Mandarin he has worked for various publications this is his area of expertise is not mine I couldn't talk about China and explain a lot of things my expertise is mainly Middle East and the obvious and specific countries so dat boy that we couldn't find anywhere else was filled same thing with civil18/142
liberties domestic issues okay how our school called rights we are not that many more people are under this illusion that we have these rights well actually in reality actuality he don't have these rights fox there is this old historical document called constitution what is being shredded butchered who do green to talk about these rather than me their whistleblower with my experience but someone was the legal19/142
experts someone was an expert on constitution someone went dedicated his life for the past three decades on liberties and constitution a police state practices long before even nine eleven will be brought on board one of the nation's top top constitutional Chinese John W. Whitehead who has his own exclusive show only at news but and his battlefield America and I don't think that that matters and the20/142
subjects he's bringing up him beat pounded on people paragon of frequent enough it's something that eat people need to hear people need to see especially people here here in the United States because based on what I'm seeing based on what I'm reading we still have so many people on their debt illusion meant a lot of that is that the night all some of them conscious you21/142
have talked about this during your shows some not gonna take up the time to talk about one of our newest addition is this incredible young producer editor writer them man who's wearing so many different hats is Jeff three so he's bringing another element that he didn't have before he's show every week Comverse technology from artificial intelligence to the south this technology phone correct and also for22/142
a lot of evil back to stop on the ground you know how was military using this technology how was your state Pelino police is using this technology how was an estate using this technology and also breaking these unbelievably important questions that that in books automatically critical thinking if you go to the comments sections for Jeff Teresa's weekly show I love reading the comments for his show23/142
you mean people are coming here and they are posing some really astute questions well that was a missing element it was not something I could fail because I'm not a technological expert you back home challenge technologically who politely challenge well we ended up with someone who was doing editing for our videos just like rock Wes was amazing and he's an incredible graphic designer extremely knowledgeable and24/142
by the way James their reason %HESITATION he I even found them was you know and Twitter because I put out a message on Twitter saying you are looking for an extra hand bizarre video editing because we have so much you know so many productions and though and I got responses from various people he was on top of the list because he said for years and years25/142
I have been of following Corbett report James Corbett and to James Corbett I discovered you and your site and I said okay I really want to get to know about this guy well he's an amazing multitalented person you're very fortunate to have them up Kirk Nemo he gave his spin and there's %HESITATION every area of journalism video production he's an author he's a writer he's an26/142
analyst he's against such a multifaceted person and has been in this area as a journalist as a producer as a website overseer for a long time experienced mature but up and then of course great %HESITATION authors we have a lot of these are listed on there are about us section is not going to babble about that but I wouldn't tell you one off look couple of27/142
ingredients all of them having common but I'm talking about our team members okay every single one of our team members every single one of them nonpartisan okay they're not Republican they're not Democrat they are not of libertarian they're not Green Party even knocked they are independent thinkers every single one of them what I mean by that I don't we don't have any ideologues first of all28/142
we wouldn't be able to get along with ideologues me had some experiences in the past thankfully they were resolved in a civilized fashion but it came to a point where we were covering Spiro night the man who protests and everything and we came under attack by some people who are contributing contributing to our side they call me a skin had they called me a right wing29/142
ya I don't know %HESITATION will whatever so it's I and I realize that was one of the most important ingredients to see on our partners the are not ideal up their open minded another great ingredient I have the list yet again I'm sorry I don't wanna hijacked this this forum and I won't spill to talk here has to do with people being I call it being30/142
cool not being mature meaning they are not wrapped up in this eagle business because that's another thing I don't deal well laid wise might show list that after disbursements show you know what I'm talking about in fact James you and I had discussed in the past the ideal expansion and both of us agreed that book running an organization and these interpersonal conflict management both of us31/142
were discussed that with that idea I still am I don't have to do that head of stuff thankfully thankfully being careful and growing steadily slowly we have come up with the scene that everybody's independent we don't have micro management we don't have the chain of hierarchy in our organization we don't have water but by his board of directors bureaucracy rules none of those that we have32/142
people who are good at what they do in presenting information to our viewers and presenting them independently without being you know a subscriber of a particular philosophy etcetera and that's it investing we all basically on equal terms with that said I don't know how much of your question I answered I always like Miller that but if I hear this I'm gonna stay quiet until willow is33/142
quite an answer and you did go through a lot of the %HESITATION that programs and people that are now on board refused but so that's great I'm at spirit perhaps you can fill us in on the history of the first U. funding ride drives for news bud and what we're going to attempt to be a tempting to accomplish with the third one absolutely James of well34/142
we presented our model and a four phase our campaign on Kickstarter %HESITATION in order to get us up and running as an organization in operational full fledged new site with paid employees paid contractors you know up that's bill mentioned you can refer refer to our about us section we have over a dozen people up on the news by team at this point so in order to35/142
make this new site possible out we didn't want to be funded by any ads or any corporate corporation ties we didn't want to have any ties to any foundations are you know like Soros Rockefeller fort Kearney all at stuff %HESITATION we want to be completely and solely independent we don't want to have any dependence on on anyone you know so I we wanted a people funded36/142
model so we went with Kickstarter if they have the strictest guidelines you have to meet all these requirements in order to even have your project %HESITATION eligible to be on their site so we chose them %HESITATION that's a very reputable site and %HESITATION we set up the model to be four phases to reach a goal to where we would be operational but in the meantime we37/142
would supplement our funding from the people up by building our subscription base and our subscription base is keyed to a keeping news but operational in addition to our our fundraising programs so we had a two successful campaigns and in fact the first successful campaign was the most funded journalism project of all time on Kickstarter which is amazing and it's only possible because of our supporters because38/142
of the people out there up sharing it our information and and people like you James thank you for all you know giving us this platform to help spread our message to help get the information out there and %HESITATION in we're back for a third campaign right now a we just launched it adds to couple days ago and %HESITATION were open for everyone supports we can continue39/142
to operate at this great fantastic team that we've been able to build in this short period of time I mean this is it's only been used but only been operational for nine months at this point and it just blows my mind when that we were putting together this Kickstarter project because it kind of puts it into perspective that I don't normally get to see it and40/142
you know normally when you're in the data day operations you kind of lose yourself and all of that well we put everything in form and everything it took us to step back and look at at night I just couldn't believe what %HESITATION we've been able to accomplish here in again none of it would be possible %HESITATION without the support of the public okay so %HESITATION there41/142
are subscribers to news bud what do subscribers get from their subscription well %HESITATION all good take this one Sibel %HESITATION our subscribers we like what we like to refer to them as our community are because we are building %HESITATION what we like to you know it's it's a community of people of like minded people who are after this %HESITATION in depth analysis and knowledge and information42/142
and %HESITATION so if you become a subscriber or a join the news but community you'll have access every week to exclusive content that is not available anywhere else but news but dot com so we've been putting out of a bit least one video per week %HESITATION bed is a subscribers special edition news but community exclusive video so every week you're gonna get that video while we've43/142
been to adding some up articles occasionally you get some articles for a better totally exclusive and you when you joined the news but community you get a walk a lot and you know you get to sign and then you to access the comment section you get a monthly newsletter we been doing for for Sibel for %HESITATION the past couple months now and down so we're we're44/142
trying to give back as much as we can to our supporters %HESITATION and and really just %HESITATION I hope it it's amazing I'm I'm really %HESITATION pleased with it yeah yeah he's absolutely right because for this model to be successful you know what that's like as it is with any start up business you need to seek my right you you need to have some some money45/142
in advance so for example the New York going to make employment or contractual agreements with the people that I work for you and beat you up for your organization you know that two months from now you not going to tell them look %HESITATION be thinking you this month we didn't have much voluntary subscription or donations you have to be able to do that especially when you're46/142
looking at the caliber of people they're working with to just give you an example and I hope Jeff the re so does the mind that I'm talking about it went me hooked up with Jack Jack was in the process of changing one of you know hit his job okay and he was making him very very nice high levels salary floor up for a major part company47/142
not the media company and data and it was how many hours the whole entity and work do you need them he said while as many hours you have but then he says well I need to know whether I need to look for some other part time jobs and beat use certain slot and Kelly this many hours I have available or if you want me to have48/142
put spells full time position for you tell me how many hours of work you guarantee per week why he has to pay rent he's starting a family expanding his family he he has a car and he is that you know multi faceted multi talented person with a great resume who can make a big amount of money out there and has been well to get someone with49/142
those capabilities technically etcetera educational background all these things you really have to be able to say this is what we have and the are set for a year so you can you can be with us at least four yet I'm gonna expand beyond that so hopefully you'll be with us forever and that's why is the seed money combined the subscription because subscriptions as they add up50/142
and be reach a certain level that certain level and our current size with our expenses is around six to seven thousand subscribers okay we are about to be two thousand subscribers now if you look at our sixteen seventeen team members some of them part time contract settled them full time contract and some of them are based on a full time employment and if you act do51/142
sixteen thousand based on minimum wage amount you gonna see what number you come up with beach we don't have minimum wage of numbers but that people we are dealing with so many at that took the operational costs and everything else you're looking at per year somewhere between five hundred to six hundred thousand dollars operation here this is having three full time video editors then and now52/142
post production editors graphic design capability we are looking at five experts producing weekly shows you have people who are writing analysis some of them you just love brought on board up tight Ian eating he's one of them well respected well recognized financial experts even half that expertise in house and a lot of people were sending us emails are you going to have some show on the53/142
financial econ developments that you can't turn does the geopolitical that bad developments while they're in the process of hopefully after this Kickstarter successful to start offering one show per week that Tyson whether respond oil prices unemployment etcetera to all the other Jew political developments two four bills things to make sense I mean one of the sites I'm looking at on daily basis is I don't I'm54/142
nothing if the good side site is oil price that come because we're not looking at the development about what is being blown up in Libya when they're trying to keep the prices of oil at certain level and how certain pipe Langit sabotage or how Sir yeah yeah is part of the geopolitical stop we have round table and talk about what a lot of people don't put55/142
those ingredients together so you have incomplete partial picture but you need to put the he confines of like you cover federal reserve all I wish I had that expertise I don't does that relate directly to a lot of things we are covering yes would that be a major significant missing ingredients yes I don't want to open my mouth on on on that topic because I have56/142
limited knowledge I'm still going through a learning process on the other hand we want to find someone with those expertise that can be combining that with other political geopolitical developments that the RC so basically subscripts shin is going to be the backbone the real operational back one of news by the don't wanna do this craft funding business because James every single one of us we hate57/142
the process it takes so much time and energy away from those producing all the good stuff people want to do he and I repast mirror night we just returned from Vietnam and we have your loaded with all the spells interviews he conducted and we need to go to post production anything with those you haven't had the chance is being one thing after another it's been sitting
