hi I'm only and I came here to talk about first first is an organization that its main goal is to teach kids about science and technology in a different way first made up from four programs the junior first lego league for kids in kindergarten that is made to teach them teamwork and facing challenges filament preschool kids there's the first lego league there they need to build
a robot from lego when program minutes to face a challenge also for middle school there the first tech challenge the robots are bigger and the need to build their own parts I participate in the first robotics competition industrial size robots with more complex mechanisms and engineering and more complicated programming each year we have a season kickoff in which first gives us a mission and we have
six weeks from the kick off until the day we need to hand in the robot to design build and program robots that needs to face that challenge and do that this year we also wanted to help the community help other people so we thought about a problem so we thought about what problem can we help solve car accidents are the second leading cause of death among
children and over sixteen hundred kids die each year from car accidents only in the U. S. so we thought what can we do to help solve that problem we built a robot that its main goal is to teach kids about road safety we took it to a couple local kindergartens and we showed it to the kids and played with it so this is how it went
we show the robots in circles and we told the kid raised the flag when you think it's safe to cross the street and we told another kid to push the button when the other kid raises the flag and we told him it'll stop the robot but actually program there to stop the robot only after a few seconds so we showed them that cars can stop immediately
and that also the drivers can't see them right away I think that even if we saved one of its life than all the work on this project in robot is worth it but I just use this as an example to show you about robotics is it's not only a way for us to learn as students is also a way to help other people help the community
